Inclusive Counseling Services on Your Terms
Blue Agave Therapy and Wellness Services is the place for professional, high-achieving people who want support navigating obstacles, overcoming limiting beliefs, and creating their dream life. Our mental health professionals believe that mental wellness is the key to your success.
Cassie Uribe is a social worker who founded Blue Agave because she felt frustrated by the constraints of traditional behavioral health practices. She wanted to give clients exactly what they needed rather than what insurance companies said they could have.
Individuals who are busy building careers, creating companies, and enjoying their families don’t have years to wait for traditional therapy results. They need targeted therapy and wellness services to meet them where they are now and guide them toward optimal wellness.
Cassie saw many people who appeared successful to everyone around them, but who were really much like a swan - calm on the surface, but paddling rapidly to try and stay afloat amid a pile of expectations. These people could keep it together in their career, but their home and relationships were a mess, or they worked so hard to meet everyone’s expectations they wound up burned out, exhausted, and feeling like a failure.
At Blue Agave, we know you want more balance, better alignment of your priorities, better boundaries, and more sleep. We’re dedicated to helping you achieve your dreams using evidence-based practices and a person-centered, holistic approach to your mental wellness. That’s why we offer targeted, inclusive counseling services without the insurance red-tape.
We leverage multiple modalities and years of experience to provide effective individual therapy. We will help you learn to advocate for your needs, stop people-pleasing, and manage thoughts and emotions to help you conquer life in the boardroom, the living room, and whatever other rooms you spend time in.
What We Offer
Many individuals come to Blue Agave knowing that something is wrong, or that there is a reason they struggle in certain areas, but are unable to pinpoint the problem. That’s why we undertake a comprehensive evaluation process at the beginning of every therapy relationship. We want to get to know you to uncover the root of your dissatisfaction with life and find out how your struggles immediately impact your life. Then, we develop a systematic approach to help you transform personal challenges into life-enhancing opportunities. We will work from each angle of the problem so your life is better today and you avoid having the same problems in the future.
Blue Agave offers outpatient telehealth counseling services in Arizona and Washington state and outpatient in-person services in Arizona at our counseling center located at 64 E Broadway Blvd, Suite 202-10, Tucson, AZ 85701.
Anxiety Therapy
Anxiety is chronic worry that manifests physiologically and emotionally. You may have difficulty managing emotions and also have bothersome physical symptoms. Your body may experience pain, sweating, racing heart rate, and shallow breathing. Anxiety can affect every area of life, and often pops up during life transitions such as the perinatal or postpartum period, during career changes, divorce, and other challenges. We teach coping skills to help clients learn to manage their thoughts and understand how thoughts impact their emotions.
We also dig deep to uncover the source of your anxiety and work to lessen its impact on your future. Long-term relief from anxiety is not only possible, but probable with our targeted and personalized approach.
Depression Therapy
Sometimes people come to therapy knowing they struggle with depression and other times they approach therapy with a list of symptoms that ultimately lead to a depression diagnosis.
Depression manifests as relationship struggles, trouble at work, an inability to feel joy, low motivation, and trouble sleeping, along with many other symptoms. Sometimes depression is a symptom of a deeper issue, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
At Blue Agave, we work to treat depression symptoms today, as well as find the underlying cause of your depression. You don’t have to live with mental health issues forever. Let’s start your wellness journey today!
ADHD Evaluation & Treatment
We want every client struggling with ADHD to understand what it is, how it impacts their life, and what they can do to manage executive functioning difficulties, emotional regulation, impulsivity, trouble sleeping, time blindness, and more.
At Blue Agave, our evaluation process starts from the first appointment when we review intake paperwork and listen to the struggles clients are having. We help clients learn to trust their intuition. Then, we gather a detailed history and begin an ADHD assessment process using evidence-based screening tools.
We find out how ADHD symptoms show up at work, at school, in your relationships, and in your internal world. We also use an adult ADHD screening tool in session to further evaluate each client.
If we discover that ADHD is the root cause of your struggles, we discuss treatment options. Many people benefit from medication, in which case we provide a comprehensive report you can take to a medical provider. The report can also help you get accommodations at school or work and empower you to ask for what you need to be successful.
Trauma Therapy
The traditional definition of trauma is somewhat limiting. “A traumatic event is defined as the exposure to death, threatened death, actual or threatened serious injury, or actual or threatened sexual violence.”
At Blue Agave Therapy and Wellness Services, we take a broader definition of trauma and include experiences with systemic or overt racism, classism, and oppression, surviving an abusive relationship or dealing with a narcissistic parent. Often, the experience of being a woman or person of color results in trauma symptoms and needs to be treated as such.
Trauma can make you feel helpless, disempowered, and disconnected from everything you thought was true about the world. Many people don’t realize that trauma affects them until years after the event, or that their current struggles are due to a past trauma at all.
Trauma may show up in your life as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, fear, numbing behaviors, addictions, obsessions, difficulty focusing, or just a feeling that “something isn’t right.”
At Blue Agave, we approach trauma therapy using a variety of modalities. We first have to calm your mind and body and address any immediate dysfunction, then we can dive deep to the origin of your trauma.
We help clients develop self-care plans, safety plans, and focus on physiological symptoms and intuition as clues to the solution. We help clients eliminate toxic people from their lives and create new, healthy relationships with themselves and others.
Methodologies
At Blue Agave, we believe no single method can help manage mental health and wellness. We incorporate multiple methodologies for each client based on individual needs. We pull from traditional psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindful self-compassion, solution-focused, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), trauma-focused (TF-CBT), parts work, internal family systems. Our providers are trained in EMDR, and certified in CBT, and TF-CBT,
Private Pay Therapy
Convenience, Freedom, Privacy
Private pay mental health services offer the ultimate in convenience, freedom, and privacy.
Private pay mental health services offer the ultimate in convenience, freedom, and privacy.
You’ll enjoy convenience because you can schedule appointments when you need them, and for whatever duration meets your needs. Do you prefer two appointments a week of shorter duration? How about a two-hour appointment to get through something difficult? When you take insurance companies out of the equation, you and your therapist can decide what treatment plan is best for you.
You’ll have complete freedom to try whatever therapy methods you and your therapist deem best for your situation. Insurance regulations should not limit the methodologies a trained therapist can use with you, nor should they keep you from trying something new.
When you seek mental health care with insurance, your referrals, diagnosis, and treatment notes become a permanent part of your medical record. Private pay therapy offers the perfect privacy solution for people who want their mental well-being to stay their business. For more about why we chose a private pay therapy model, click here.
